Everything you need to know before your Treatment

Having a treatment for the first time can feel daunting; here are some details that we hope will help you fully relax. Your Therapist will also explain everything on the day to you. Your comfort and relaxation is our priority, so please let us know any questions. Please note that all of our Therapists are female.

I have a health condition, can I still have a Treatment?

If you have any concerns, please contact us to discuss your Treatment in confidence. We may recommend you check with your GP that it’s ok for you to have a Treatment. You’ll be asked to complete a Health Questionnaire before your appointment that will identify any concerns to us - your safety always comes first.

Some examples of a health condition (sometimes known as a contraindication) that means extra precaution is required include; Diabetes, recent surgery, pregnancy, high blood pressure, injury, and certain medications.

Can a Carer come with me?

Absolutely, please let us know on booking if a Carer will be accompanying you, so we can make appropriate arrangements. Most Treatments can be tailored to sensory requirements (e.g. a fully lit treatment room, no music, no essential oils) and can be altered to mobility requirements (e.g. seated) so please contact us to discuss your needs and preferences with a Therapist at the time of booking. Please note that our Therapists are not allowed to help you on to or off the Treatment couch. You can find out more about Accessibility here, and if you have any questions, please contact us.

Our Treatment beds can safely hold a maximum weight of 450lbs (32 St /204 Kg).

What should I wear?

Try to come to your appointment in loose fitting, comfortable, clothing. If you’re already using the Spa, just pop your robe and flip flops on when your Therapist comes to collect you. Plus size robes are available in sizes 20-24 and 26-30. Larger towels are available; you are also welcome to bring your own towels and robes.

Do I need to undress?

For facials, Indian head massage, and back massages, your Therapist will ask you to remove your top, and for ladies, to pull your bra straps down. Your Therapist will leave the room, and you’ll have a towel to cover yourself when you’re lying on the treatment couch (Indian Head Massage is a seated treatment).

For full body massages, full body exfoliation, and spa rituals, you’ll be asked to fully undress, though leave your underwear on. Cover yourself with the towel provided; your Therapist will uncover the part of your body that they are working on at the time.

For Treatments involving a scrub you’ll be given some very glamorous disposable paper knickers to pop on prior to your Treatment, to protect your own clothing. If you’d prefer not to use these, just let your Therapist know, and keep your underwear on. You’ll be asked to use the showers in the Treatment Room to wash off the scrub (your Therapist will leave the room). You should throw the paper knickers away in the bin provided before your shower, and put your underwear back on ready for the next part of your Treatment.

For reflexology you’ll just need to remove your shoes and socks.

What should I do afterwards?

Your Therapist will give you advice after your Treatment, but do make sure you continue to relax, and drink plenty of water. Indian head massage and reflexology can be particularly draining on occasion, so do take time to rest before driving or doing anything strenuous.

Can I have a Treatment if I'm pregnant?

Yes! Now is a great time to take some time to relax. Explore our Pregnancy Safe Massages and Facials especially designed to soothe the strains on your body that pregnancy brings. You’ll be required to complete a Health Questionnaire and sign a disclaimer; please refer to your midwife or GP for any further advice. Use of the Thermal Spa facilities is not advised during pregnancy.

Can I check allergens?

For a list of allergens for your chosen Treatment please contact us by email and we’ll be happy to help. You must make your Therapist aware of any and all allergies on your health questionnaire.

What’s the room like?

We have two Treatment Rooms; one is a Double (for when you’d like to book in for a Treatment at the same time as someone you know* - this will never be with a stranger) and the other is a Single.
